As Wallace’s sidekick, Gromit has built some cracking mechanical creations, but this is his greatest yet: a huge robotic version of himself!
With its sleek and shiny exterior, the ‘Giant Robotic Mutt Transporter’ – or GRMT02 for short – may seem like a vision of the future, but there’s also a familiar secret at its heart … As its name suggests, it is meant to be piloted by Gromit himself from a concealed cockpit!
Gavin Strange, Senior Designer at Aardman Animations, was inspired by science-fiction ‘mecha’ (robots controlled by people – or in this case animals!) when creating his design. He said, ‘There’s nothing more fun than having futuristic super-robots crossing over with the very British Gromit. It’s the perfect recipe for some very silly storylines!’
